October is "Demonic Awareness Month"!

Due to the influence Halloween has had on our society as well as our church, I am declaring the month of October: “Demonic Awareness Month!” The following are articles and information to help you to "know your enemy". It is only after we understand the tactic's that Satan uses to harass and oppress the believer that we will truly have victory! Don't hide from the truth any longer... Jesus said: "Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free." John 8:32.

October: Demonic Awareness Month!

Posted October 1, 2007 - To me Halloween just stirs up the thoughts of witches, warlocks and demon’s running rampant through our city and countryside reeking havoc on everything and everyone they come into contact. But the truth is they really don’t need their own “High Holy Day” to do that. We have subjected ourselves and our children from an early age to the demonic influences of magic, wizards, and the occult on TV, books, magazines, internet, secular music, computer games, advertisements, just to name a few. In many ways it is becoming impossible to protect our children and our families from these influences. It is also coming increasingly clear to me that we are under a spiritual attack of “Biblical” proportions. Our society has entered the “Information Age” to which there is no end in the flow and exchange of ideas, history and knowledge that is being distributed as we speak from all over the world. There has never been in the history of our planet that so much information is available at the fingertips of anyone with a telephone, FAX machine, computer, IPOD.... What I am trying to say is that we and our children are bombarded with a steady flow of ungodly and purely Satanic forms of information set at subtly attempting to win over the hearts and minds of our youth and inhabit the body of unbelievers and believers alike. It is staggering and mind boggling all the stuff that gets past even the most alert and vigilant Christian.

The Bible says: “For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.” Ephesians 6:12

I could go through verse after verse that describes the work of our enemy and his intent to get a “strong hold” into our body and mind but I won’t because I know you as Christians are well aware of this fact. However, the fact that you may not be aware of is that this “strong hold” that Satan seeks to get is one that involves an infestation of your very body by demons and he intends to start with our children. These demons are not just limited to roaming around in the air space above our planet; they are earth bound and parasitic in nature. As a Christian, the one thing that Satan can not control or gain entrance into is your Spirit; that remains truly and preciously your own, but your “flesh”, well that is a whole other story.

What is up with this power struggle for our souls? What does Satan have to gain from all this torment, confusion and mayhem? I honestly have no idea, but it exists and it is a reality. Many of us have been exposed to the bombardment of the enemy for so long we are even unaware of the Satanic nature of it’s content. Some things are just blatantly obvious, but it is the subtlety of others that just shows the incredible intelligence and nature of these beings. Being aware is not enough! Spiritual warfare of the highest order is required: “ Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.” Ephesians 6:13-18

My friends this is DAILY warfare, not something that comes up once in a while and we actually recognize when that “day” arrives. Satan comes in forms so subtle that we must take up our armor not just for our own defense, but the defense of our family and our children! Children are our most precious and vulnerable among us therefore it is our duty as Christian parents, grandparents, extended family members and friends to do battle daily for the mind, body and even the soul of our precious little ones. Stand in the gap, so to speak for them and protect them when ever by any means possible!

A part of our final commission Jesus said: “And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues; they will pick up snakes with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” Mark 6:17-18

Second only to the bible is experience from truly Godly men and women who have been actively working to drive out demons in His name. Many great books and resources are available out there to help us in this obligation to “drive out demons”. (I have include my list of personal favorites below) Start today to learn about this requirement placed upon us by Jesus. He was the Master Teacher, let’s go out and do what Jesus has told us to do!

Let’s completely derail the mission of Satan this year by making October and Halloween at your home and/or church “Demonic Awareness Month!” Let’s begin by learning everything we can about our enemy Satan and his helpers. Hold bible studies and book discussions in your home on this topic. Church leaders start teaching the importance of spiritual warfare as well as the devices of the enemy. To defeat our foe it is imperative we all know his tactics and believe me they change and adapt all the time.

This is not an issue that we can afford to ignore and no better time to begin this tradition than Halloween!

FAMILIAR SPIRIT

FAMILIAR SPIRITS

Lev 19:31 Regard not them that have FAMILIAR SPIRITS, neither seek after wizards, to be defiled by them: I am the LORD your God.

Isa 19:3 And the SPIRIT OF EGYPT shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have FAMILIAR SPIRITS, and to the wizards.

SPIRIT OF JEALOUSY

Num 5:14 And the SPIRIT OF JEALOUSY come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be defiled: or if the SPIRIT OF JEALOUSY come upon him, and he be jealous of his wife, and she be not defiled:

Num 5:30 Or when the SPIRIT OF JEALOUSY cometh upon him, and he be jealous over his wife, and shall set the woman before the LORD, and the priest shall execute upon her all this law.

EVIL SPIRITS

Luke 7:21 And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of EVILSPIRITS; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

Acts 19:12 So that from his body were brought unto the sick handkerchiefs or aprons, and the diseases departed from them, and the EVIL SPIRITS went OUT of them.

Acts 19:13 Then certain of the vagabond Jews, exorcists, took upon them to call over them which had EVIL SPIRITS the name of the Lord JESUS, saying, We adjure you by JESUS whom Paul preacheth.

SPIRITS

Matt 12:45 Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other SPIRITS more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

Luke 10:20 Notwithstanding in this rejoice not, that the SPIRITS are subject unto you; but rather rejoice, because your names are written in heaven.

Deliverance is for His People!

October 4, 2007 - Jesus walked the earth in the flesh about 2,000 years ago teaching and ministering to people with many types of needs! He never turned anyone down that came to him with a need for healing or deliverance. “And they brought to Him all sick people who were afflicted with various diseases and torments, and those who were demon possessed, (demonized) epileptics, and paralytics; and He healed them. Matt 4:24 b.

A person that is demonized is a person that the demons are being used to steal, kill, and destroy from the person’s well being! For example: deaf spirit steals your ability to hear. Dumb spirit steals your ability to talk, spirit of fear is used to torment you, vexing spirits disturb, annoy, and trouble you, spirit of infirmity is to make you infirm, spirit of grief consumes your eyes, belly, and soul. Psalm 31:9

Jesus gave us power to tread on serpents, and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy and said nothing would by any means hurt us!

He then gave us the great commission: “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick and they will recover.” Mark 16:15-18.

 For God’s people to be in health today we must fulfill the great commission by doing what Jesus instructed us to do.

Demons (evil spirits) must be dealt with for many sicknesses and diseases to be healed in God’s people today:

Now it came to pass, afterward, that He went through every city and village, preaching and bringing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. And the twelve were with Him, and certain women who had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities—Mary called Magdalene, out of whom had come seven demons, and Joanna the wife of Chuza, Herod’s steward, and Susanna, and many others who provided for Him from their substance.

When evil spirits are cast out many people who are sick and diseased are healed. The women above were healed from evil spirits!

God’s ministers today are suppose to cast spirits out of God’s people and set them free today so they can have the good health Jesus promised. Jesus himself said deliverance was the children’s bread! A true minister needs to be willing to set the people free and not be ashamed of the deliverance part of the gospel!

“Can a Christian have a demon?”

Posted October 8, 2007 - Was a recent question asked in a survey conducted by ChristiaNet.com, one of the largest Christian “marketplaces” on the internet.

It was reassuring to learn that 48% of those surveyed thought they could in fact have a demon inside; while 38% thought a “true” Christian could not be demonized, and 14% said they did not know. Okay, my next question is why did that 14% respond at all if they didn’t know? What is up with that?

The fact that many Christians (or at least these 52%) do not really know the correct answer to this question seems to be the number one success of Satan and his army... “Demons do not exist and if they do, can’t invade a believer”. His best method of deception is his stealth; to remain undetected and under the radar of the Christian. It is only in this deception that he is able to get away with all the oppression, harassment and torment. He aims to steal your joy and happiness, destroy your relationships and most importantly your marriage and eventually, if he is successful, kill you before your time.

I mean really, how can you fight an enemy that you don’t think exists, or of he does can’t really bother you...because let’s face it, the bible says you belong to Him!

And that is true. You do belong to Him but you still live in enemy territory and what are you but Satan’s greatest and most dangerous adversary? If he went after Jesus, what would make you think he would spare you? Satan does go after the secular, non-Christian, but my friends, if you call yourself a Christian you are his PRIME target! The one he spends a great deal of power and tactical energy to defeat. You are just not any target, you are number one on his list! And his most effective way to do this is by invading your body. It is through your body, especially your mind, that he is most able to effect your decisions, your ministry and your witness. The bible tells us to take every thought captive.

His victories are only won here on this earth, but if he is able to persuade others, through you and your behavior that Christianity is not for them, he has thus been highly successful in keeping at least one more person from salvation! In the end, that is his goal!

In the lives of the most devoted and committed believer, once he has determined he has been unsuccessful in persuading your mind to go against Gods commands, he then targets the body through sickness and disease; another extremely useful technique in keeping the Christian down and unable to fulfill Gods destiny on their lives. He never gives up and he never will as long as you remain here on this earth, or until Jesus returns. Satan was called by Jesus “the prince of this world” and until Satan is thrown in the pit, he still is wreaking havoc upon the world. Don’t be deceived, he is after you too!

It Went Out

Posted October 9, 2007 - For those of us who have been in church for any length of time, we might have heard this song “This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine.” I think that there are many times in our lives when the light goes out. Jesus hasn’t left us; He is still in our hearts. Jesus is still our light but when crises and difficult situations come against us instead of allowing Him to shine brightly through us, we become discouraged.

So once again, Satan had his way in the situation and won that battle. I don’t know about you but I am tired of Satan winning a battle in my life. Jesus has already won the war when He died on the cross but we will still have attacks from Satan and from the world. We don’t have anyone to blame for losing the battles but ourselves. Jesus has promised us that He will walk beside us and hold our hand and protect us from our enemies. He said that He would never leave us, not even for one minute.

Too often in our lives instead of immediately crying out to Jesus when someone hurts us or when we are in the middle of a crisis, we forget to pray and ask Jesus to help us. We try to solve the problem ourselves. When will we ever learn that we need Jesus to fight our battles for us? We don’t have the strength to constantly battle Satan.

It is only as we lean on Jesus and depend on Him for everything that we will be victorious. It takes the power of the risen Christ to bring us through our battles. We don’t have any power; it is Jesus working in us and through us who has the power to change lives and circumstances for the better. It has been pounded into our heads just as if someone was using a sledge hammer that it is a sign of weakness to cry or ask for help. That is a lie straight from the pits of hell! Jesus has told us that we are to be encouragers to one another. It is very important that we have a support system.

We need to surround ourselves with people who love Jesus and who will pray for us when we are hurting so badly that we are unable to pray for ourselves. It is very important that we have more than one person who will pray for us because that person may be in the middle of a heartbreaking situation himself or herself. Thank You, Jesus, for giving us friends to comfort us, pray for us and encourage us.

Are you allowing Jesus to shine through you so that others will know that we do have a Saviour who is not only able to save us from our sins; but also able to bring us through every battle in life victoriously? Have you allowed Satan and the world to extinguish the light in your heart and life with their criticism, sarcasm and ridicule? If so, ask Jesus to shine brightly once again in your heart and in your life.

What are they? Part I

Posted October 10, 2007 - Last week I discussed “Can a Christian have a demon?” and I know many of you were saying to yourself...yep, I believe it! I know lots of Christians that act like they have quite a few things living in there! In all seriousness though, if I have convinced just one of you that these “things” exist and can assail the Christian believer then I have made good my role in the body of Christ!

I would like to continue this week with “what are they and where did they come from?”

Through years of research and study I’ve concluded that no on really knows for sure. Some say they are simply the fallen angels that followed Satan.

“The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” Revelation 12:9

But my problem with this theory is that these “fallen angels” are being held in “everlasting chains” until their judgment:

“For if God did not spare angels when they sinned, but sent them to hell, putting them into gloomy dungeons to be held for judgment;” 2 Peter 2: 4

“And the angels who did not keep their positions of authority but abandoned their own home—these he has kept in darkness, bound with everlasting chains for judgment on the great Day.” Jude 1:6

So if not “fallen angels” then what?

The next theory involves the disembodied spirits of a pre-flood race and this story lies in Genesis 6:1-7 and a brief mentioned is given in Isaiah 14:20. The following is Genesis 6:1-7, the biblical account of the flood and the conditions that led up to this moment.

When men began to increase in number on the earth and daughters were born to them, the sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful, and they married any of them they chose. Then the LORD said, "My Spirit will not contend with man forever, for he is mortal; his days will be a hundred and twenty years."

 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. They were the heroes of old, men of renown. (bold emphasis mine)

 The LORD saw how great man's wickedness on the earth had become, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the time. The LORD was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and his heart was filled with pain. So the LORD said, "I will wipe mankind, whom I have created, from the face of the earth—men and animals, and creatures that move along the ground, and birds of the air—for I am grieved that I have made them."

It has been said that these “sons of God” were the fallen angels that joined Satan in his revolt. After the floods, the immortal souls of their “offspring” wander the earth as demons. I think this theory is one SERIOUS stretch!

What are they? Part II

Posted October 11, 2007 - Yesterday we discussed what others think demon’s are; today I am going to discuss what I think they are...

My theory is one you probably won’t find in any book or at least any book I’ve read. It is touched upon briefly in the bible and it is based on the account in Genesis, because lets face it, that seems to be where this whole mess began in the first place. The story of Adam and Eve began simple enough. God created them both and put them in a beautiful garden named Eden. One day a serpent came along, enticed Eve to eat of the forbidden fruit, she gave some to Adam and he ate too. When their disobedience was discovered God removed them both from their beautiful garden sanctuary and put a curse upon all the involved parties.

Genesis 3:14-15 gives us a brief example of the curse and the theory to which I am describing.

Some have suggested that this “serpent” is just a snake or some other animal in the garden that was just particularly “crafty”. Other scripture begs to differ. Revelation 12: 9 states: “The great dragon was hurled down—that ancient serpent called the devil, or Satan, who leads the whole world astray. He was hurled to the earth, and his angels with him.” That’s good enough for me, I will continue…

This portion of the curse indicates that enmity will be between their “offspring”, so it makes sense that the demons to which we are at odds with are Satan’s offspring. How this procreation happens is a mystery that we may never solve and at this juncture is not important. The second theory mentioned, has been used to describe how they beget “offspring”, but as will be explained later, I am just not convinced.

At this point, I would like to mention that some biblical scholars have argued Satan could not possibly have “offspring” because he was once an angel and angels are unable to procreate. They use this verse to back up their argument:

This verse only explains that angels are not given in marriage; this does not say they are unable to have “offspring”.

Really, if you look at the theory of fallen angels and disembodied spirits; mine really doesn’t seem like such a stretch does it?

This theory also explains why they hate us so much...

It was just a curse, simple and to the point.

“Enmity” is not just a curse...

The Lord said...

The hatred between “Eve’s offspring” and “Satan’s offspring” is one of these mysteries that is not explained in detail, it is something that you have to read between the lines to really understand...or maybe just know Gods heart and His infinite love for us that also can not be understood. When you look at it, God made us to have fellowship with Him, He just asked us NOT to do one thing and that was to eat from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. And we did. We, in essence, betrayed Him; His friendship; His love.

Satan, who has an ax to grind and a mission to take down the creatures that God created in HIS image; God did NOT create Satan in His image, it was us. God gave us dominion over all the earth, yet Satan wanted to put himself over, not just us but Heaven as well.

For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven; I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north:

I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High. Isaiah 14:12-14, KJV

God put enmity between us to continue to give us free choice; albeit seriously coerced (a great discussion for the rest of this week). That day in Eden Satan won a battle of control, but he did not win the war. He has claimed a small territory, but it is no where near putting himself above the throne of God. Had there not been “enmity” then we would have been lost forever never having the ability to choose freely again. Souls claimed eternally for Satan. And although He knew what would have to be done from the foundation of the world, He knew that His only choice was to give us free choice. To choose good or evil, but it would be our decision.

And then God did something I don’t think even Satan counted on. For God so loved the world...

What more could be said or done than that?

I will continue this discussion with how Satan goes about his game of coercion. To those of us who have learned his subtle games they are very hard to disguise. It is my hope and desire to show you how subtlety and stealth is his best weapons of warfare on the unsuspecting soul.

Satan’s tricks of the trade! Part I

Posted October 17, 2007 - For those of you who have suffered through the past two weeks of articles on “Demonic Awareness”, I hope beyond ALL hope that we have convinced you that demons are real and are a threat, not just to the unsuspecting non-Christian but to Christians alike. This knowledge is crucial to your spiritual education and health by NOT being “ignorant of his [Satans] devices”. 2 Corinthians 2:11, NIV, partial.

God is nothing if not practical. I know that may surprise many of you who have read the bible, especially the Old Testament full of its rules and regulations. Who would have thought the Ten Commandments could have turned into all those laws that were laid down by God and dictated to Moses in Leviticus. Who knew? And who can keep them? Just way too complicated, but maybe that was the point!

I think most of us know the Cain and Abel story in Genesis. God reveals a very important lesson very early on in scripture that all of us need to understand and heed.

Then the Lord said to Cain, "Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it." Genesis 4:6-7, NIV.

I think most of us know what happens next. Cain does not heed Gods warning, goes out into the field, gives into the temptation of sin and kills his brother Abel. Our first recorded murder in history. Gruesome and loathsome but a warning which we all need to pay a great deal of attention to!

On the surface it seems like such a black and white, cut and dry story. Cain kills Abel; he was mad and gave into his feelings. Dirty deed done! But there is so much more to this story than meets the untrained eye. I’m talking about Gods warning: “But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must master it”, emphasis mine. This sin that is crouching at the door is NOT God invoking some poetic license to explain a feeling or emotion that you have to master. Oh no, God is being direct and to the point. Like I said, He is nothing if not practical. This sin is in the form of a demonic spirit crouching at the door in order to tempt you into sin itself and it desires to have you. In this light, Genesis 4:6-7 has a very deeper and purposeful meaning. God isn’t warning us to get control over our own emotions, although that is a good thing, He is telling us that the enemy is crouching at our door and desires to have us, inhabit us, possess us, control us! After all, isn’t Satan all about control and robbing us of our God ordained free will!

Let’s fast forward into the New Testament, which, for me, seems to really put sin into a more practical perspective and in combination with Satan and his entourage of demonic dung.

Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body so that you obey its evil desires. Do not offer the parts of your body to sin, as instruments of wickedness, but rather offer yourselves to God, as those who have been brought from death to life; and offer the parts of your body to him as instruments of righteousness. For sin shall not be your master, because you are not under law, but under grace. Romans 6:12-14

Again, sins reign in our mortal body is not just some feeling or emotion. It is a presence that must be challenged. I have heard the message preached a hundred times that sin is no more than just the flesh that needs to be crucified, but quite frankly, if that is what Paul meant in Romans, he would have just said it! Paul was never a shrinking violet to discussing the flesh. But it is not just the flesh he is talking about in this verse.

In all aspects of sin there is a demonic spirit attached to its temptation. Once we have taken the bait, so to speak, we are then inhabited by the very thing that tempted us; and if we continue to give in to “its evil desires” we will thus allow the devil a foothold.

“do not give the devil a foothold.” Ephesians 4:27

Not allowing these devils a foothold is of utmost importance to our Christian spiritual health. The many lies that Satan uses to get in and thus get a foothold can, I think fit into one of several categories. The first is:

“Worship Me!”

A tried and true favorite of Satan’s which seems to work on many a unsuspecting and even some of us suspicious types. Ultimately that is his goal and he just likes to be direct and to the point when ever he can too! He even had the audacity to try this one on Jesus.

And the devil said to Him [Jesus], "I will give You all this domain and its glory; for it has been handed over to me, and I give it to whomever I wish.

 "Therefore if You worship before me, it shall all be Yours." Luke 4:6-7

Jesus, naturally being wise to Satan’s tricks, refused. Unlike the rest of us gullible souls who are tempted by fame, fortune, power, a winning football team or Prada shoes; all these things we put above God. Really it could be anything that we love or put value in more than God.

I have heard some say that “who could love a God who asks you to ‘worship’ Him. What an egomaniac”. Again, God is nothing if not practical. His desire for us to worship Him is in lieu of worshipping Satan.

Jesus said: “He who is not with me is against me...” Luke 11:23, partial.

His desire is to see us free from the control of Satan and what better way to run him off and his disgusting minions than good, ole’ fashion, praise and worship.

Satan’s Tricks of the Trade! Part 2

Posted October 19, 2007 - A man whom we will call Sam Anyman wrote in to a prominent pastor concerning a personal problem that he was having at the time. Sam Anyman had prayed, fasted and still this problem existed. He felt like something was waking him at night, giving him terrible nightmares and plaguing his every waking thought with sexual connotations, innuendo and lust. He felt driven towards things that he KNEW were wrong, but he could not clear his mind. He didn’t act on them but he didn’t feel like he was getting any peace. He asked this prominent pastor, for privacy sake, we will call him Pastor Niceguy if his particular problem could be caused by a demonic spirit and then concluded it with this:

“Can a Christian be possessed by the devil?”

Pastor Niceguy had this to say about Sam Anymans problem...

I, too, know people who teach that true believers can be possessed by devils (usually called demon-possession). This includes some men that I think a great deal of personally. However, in this I disagree with them. I have left many of the teachings that I had in my youth. However, I find that the early teaching I received on this still holds. The question was asked, How can one person be indwelled by the Holy Spirit of God and be possessed by a devil at the same time? I have still never heard this question adequately answered.

I have also seen that most who teach this doctrine tend to rely on personal experiences. Someone that they knew was saved was also obviously possessed. However, this assumes two things. One, that they can know with assurance who is saved; and two, that they can know with assurance who is possessed. Both of these are problematic to me. We do not live in the apostolic age of signs and miracles. How do we have this certain knowledge? I have seen too many people who claimed to to have special information from God and I have sometimes seen that information to be wrong. Since God does not make mistakes, that proves their knowledge to be faulty.

Now, although I know of no particular verse that directly states that devils cannot possess believers, there are many verses that demonstrate the impossibility of mixing opposites. Here are a few of these verses:

 Matthew 6:24 No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.

 1Corinthians 10:21 Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of devils: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of devils.

 2Corinthians 6:15 And what concord hath Christ with Belial? or what part hath he that believeth with an infidel?

James 3:11 Doth a fountain send forth at the same place sweet water and bitter?

Notice especially 2Corinthians 6:15. There is no concord between Christ and Belial. There can be no agreement between Christ and the devil. How can someone be a member of the body of Christ (Ephesians 5:30) and be possessed by a devil? There is an old proverb that says you cannot mix oil and water. These verses show that you cannot mix God and devils. A person who is "in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new" (2Corinthians 5:17). We know he may fall into sin and even rebel against God. However, if he can also be possessed by devils, he seemingly has no protection as a Christian. I just do not believe it is possible. The believer will have spiritual battles; he may even be (as the Bible teachers used to teach) oppressed by Satan or by devils. However, to think of him as being possessed by devils while being possessed by the Holy Ghost is simply a contradiction in terms. I hope this helps.

Wow...that was an excellent example of the misguided teachings that keep many in the body of Christ in bondage. Just because something doesn’t fit into your perfect picture of doctrine or what you may think doctrine to be you can never, ever dismiss the problem of someone genuinely in need of help and spiritual assistance.

Moving into another of Satan’s “tricks of the trade” that he uses to get in and thus retain a foothold:

“I can not inhabit a Christian believer”

As we have discussed before, possession is never the right word to use when discussing a Christian believer. Inhabited, harassed, oppressed and tormented, but most, if not all of these things come from a spirit that has moved into your body (or flesh) on either a part-time or a fulltime basis. Spirits have the freedom to come and go as Satan or God pleases and is necessary in order to fulfill their mission.

Whenever the [evil] spirit from God came upon Saul, David would take his harp and play. Then relief would come to Saul; he would feel better, and the evil spirit would leave him. 1 Samuel 16:23

This is also an excellent example of God using “evil spirits” to chastise and/or discipline us!

The belief that Satan can not do his work on a believer from the inside, I think, is discounted in the case of Ananias and Sapphira. They both were clearly believers and there is no doubt they were baptized in the Father, Son and Holy Ghost:

But Peter said, “Ananias, why has Satan filled your heart to lie to the Holy Spirit and to keep back some of the price of the land?” Acts 5:3

This misguided belief that demonic spirits can not inhabit a Christian leads us into all kinds of misfortune and folly. Our bad behavior, sinful thought life, unwise decisions, indulgences, transgressions, and fleshly desires would thus have no spiritual consequences. Sure our life may be in chaos because of this and for some that is punishment enough, but God looks also at our spiritual health. In Christian circles this is called the “carnal Christian”. For most of us the spiritual consequences are not as severe as in the case of Ananias and Sapphira who were struck down by death because of their lie. For most, we are turned over to Satan for the destruction of our flesh...

Paul wrote: I have decided to deliver such a one to Satan for the destruction of his flesh, so that his spirit may be saved in the day of the Lord Jesus. 1 Corinthians 5:5

For the Christian who does not fall into the category of what is defined as a “carnal Christian” the inhabitation my simply be a hold over from a pre-Christian sinful lifestyle or a generational curse. All these spirits don’t simply leave just because you have professed your faith in Jesus. Let me clarify, some DO leave, but others linger on in the hopes of eventually gaining some amount of control again or to simply disrupt your Christian walk in anyway they can in the future.

Most importantly belief in this lie from Satan keeps him in a seat on the bus. He may no longer be in the driver’s seat, but he still has a seat and is waiting for the driver to become weak, weary or even asleep at the wheel. Satan knows he can not possess you as a believer, nor can he ever have any claim to your soul, but he can create a great deal of discomfort if not completely side track the ministry that God has in store for your life.

And I would like to end with Paul. I know I’ve mentioned this before, but he is the best example of a demonic spirit inhabiting a person, who is also, unquestionably filled with the Holy Spirit...

To keep me from becoming conceited because of these surpassingly great revelations, there was given me a thorn in my flesh, a messenger of Satan, to torment me. 2 Corinthians 12:7

I’d like to just say that this use of demonic spirits is probably not commonly used by God unless you ARE a person who could become conceited by Gods “surpassingly great revelations”...then all bets on this one are off!

Satan’s tricks of the trade! Part 3

Posted October 22, 2007 - On the heels of “Lisa Williams: Life Among the Dead”, a hit no matter how you look at it, has set off another reality based “psychic” show that aired this week....“America’s Psychic Challenge” on Lifetime. Pitting the psychic’s against each other to tell you which one is the best and most accurate.

Of course most of us have heard of “John Edward: Cross Country” where his audience is expecting a word from a loved one! So desperate to believe they can hear from their loved ones; they cry, they are amazed and even dumbfounded at his knowledge.

Let no one be found among you who sacrifices his son or daughter in the fire, who practices divination or sorcery, interprets omens, engages in witchcraft, or casts spells, or who is a medium or spiritist or who consults the dead. Deuteronomy 18:10-11

As with any other trick in the arsenal of Satan’s trade he has come up with something that if not downright idolatry is just intended to lead the uninformed and weak into deception and pain. Ladies and gentlemen it is Satan’s trick #3:

“I can tell you your future and talk to your departed loved ones!”

Of all the reasons that a nation, country or a people group has been relegated to the ash heap of history it has been for no other reason than idol worship and sorcery. The Israelites at the leading of other heathen people groups sacrificed their children to “demons”. I can’t think of anything more barbaric and vile than killing innocent babies and children, but what could only make it worse would be to sacrifice them to Satan.

We like to think of ourselves, our western culture as progressive and modern thinking, yet there is becoming this overwhelming influx of spiritual garbage meant only to lead us astray. To get your focus off the truth, sadly some people really can NOT handle the truth, and put our dependence upon things that are false and corrupt.

Our created form is part spirit and it has a natural yearning for the things of the spirit. Yet we are unable to accept, for whatever reason, that God really does have our best interest at heart and longs only for our communion with Him.

“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11

I think some have become completely dependent upon horoscopes, tarot cards and personal spiritual advisers that their minds have become seared to the truth. Some even dabble in other occult things such as Ouija boards, automatic writings and séances. The things that used to be on the fringe elements of our society are becoming main stream and acceptable.

None of this is at all acceptable to God. Now I am not a prophet but I can tell you from biblical history that if our nation continues to allow these forms of “entertainment” to continue unabated we will go the way of every other nation that no longer exists; just a well meaning paragraph or honorable mention in some history book.

And I really couldn’t end this without saying that I feel that this trick of Satan’s has also infiltrated our churches on a level, I think, that is unparalleled in church history!

Jesus said: “For false Christs and false prophets will appear and perform signs and miracles to deceive the elect—if that were possible. So be on your guard; I have told you everything ahead of time.” Mark 13:22-23

In every Charismatic church in our nation today there is someone who is a “prophet”, or gives us “words of wisdom” or “knowledge”, or will speak in “tongues” to the benefit of no one. All of these are gifts IF given by the Holy Spirit; however, NOT ALL have been given by the Holy Spirit. We just blindly accept all of these manifestations as being from God, and we have been warned over and over and over to be weary of counterfeits; to NOT be deceived. That is YOUR responsibility to seek the truth for yourself. No one else can lead you in this way. It is just you and the Holy Spirit. Take “all thoughts captive” and “test every spirit” even those that you feel are from God. He really does expect you to be responsible and to seek the truth! You will be amazed, if you genuinely seek His face, how he will pour out His wisdom and knowledge on you and lead you into all truth and righteousness.

For Christian and non-Christian alike, Satan has treacherous plans in mind when pretending to be helpful. We as Christians should be very aware of these tricks and be vigilant to warn the non-Christians of their dangers as well; if they will listen.

Satan’s tricks of the trade! Part 4

Posted October 24, 2007 - As I clicked on the Reuter’s video of the “floating Dutchman” as he levitated outside the Whitehouse, I thought it HAS to be a trick!! I know gravity still exists. I have also seen Criss Angel the “Mindfreak” guy floating around, but with technology today people can do just about anything, or at least make it appear so, but man, it really does freak you out a little bit to see it! Seriously though, I’ve heard it is all done using magnets! With that said, here is tactic #4:

Look what I can do!

Throughout history there has always been some magician or illusionist that can do things that can shock and surprise us. Of course most of these little tricks as described above are just that, an illusion, but on rare occasions Satan will use one of these folks to genuinely portray some amazing feats of strength or miraculous event such as clairvoyance, healings through magic, telekinesis, and levitation, to name a few. In the time of Moses the Pharaohs magicians duplicated many of the “signs and wonders “sent by God, for example...

Aaron threw his staff down in front of Pharaoh and his officials, and it became a snake. Pharaoh then summoned wise men and sorcerers, and the Egyptian magicians also did the same things by their secret arts: Each one threw down his staff and it became a snake. Exodus 7:10-12

Many of us have witnessed some bizarre event that could only be described as “supernatural” and were at a loss to explain it. We just think to ourselves; if only there were some genius scientist around right now he’d explain it all! But in all honesty there ARE events that defy a rational explanation.

A friend, I will call her “Jane”, recounted a tragic event to me that almost ended in tragedy for herself.

“My daughter had gotten in with the wrong crowd and although we were praying for her she continued on her path and eventually died of an overdose. One night in my grief I thought I heard her voice. I sat up with a start, I thought I was dreaming. The next night, and there were more to follow, a very similar experience happened. I would smell her familiar smell, hear her voice or ‘feel’ her presence in the room. I really found a great deal of comfort from those times. I shared this experience with a close Christian friend who told me what was REALLY going on! I am very fortunate for that dear friend. I could have easily been sucked right into the occult.”

This incredibly strong lady is in deliverance ministry today and helps others to be set free from the captivating snare of Satan’s pull! This is one of Satan’s best tricks ever!

Satan and his helpers also use their little bag of tricks to attempt to scare off someone who has intruded upon what they perceive as their territory. Someone I know, we’ll call her “Jessica”, tells a story of an experience that she had recently while praying for her children.

“I began praying over my children on a regular basis after reading a book about spiritual warfare by Derek Prince. He stressed the importance of doing this daily. One night recently I was standing outside their bedrooms praying and doing the warfare as described in the book when I felt God put on my heart to command generational curses to be broken, of course always in the name of Jesus, and as I did so the blind on the window next to me flew up with such a violent force that I jumped clear across the room. It nearly scared me to death. I know I was white as a sheet, but then I realized it was just one of those times when Satan was trying to scare me. I rejoiced because I just figured it must be working.”

What a great example of seeing in the natural the affects on the spiritual and the scare tactics that he employs to keep us from using the authority that Jesus has given us. I’ve heard stories of objects flying across rooms, furniture being moved or shaken and I’ve even spoken with someone once who said she was thrown across a room so violently that she was left with bruises.

Satan also uses this similar tactic to convince us that he is not the enemy here, it is God! I will continue with this sad, but effective tactic next time!

Satan’s tricks of the trade! Part 5

October 26, 2007 - I was flipping through the channels the other day and of course it being pre-Halloween fever nothing but idiotic slasher films and sorry attempts to explain the “dark” side of the universe were on. I paused on Keanu Reeves as “ Constantine” discussing his characters opinion of God... “God is a kid with an ant farm. He doesn’t have a plan”. That seems to be the theme that Hollywood pounds into the heads of unsuspecting viewers... “God doesn’t love you, He doesn’t know who you are and if He did, He sure doesn’t care”! This leads us into my final trick, albeit not even close to the end of the tricks, in Satan’s arsenal: Trick #5...

God doesn’t really love you, He’s the enemy here!

Because God is a God of love He gave us free will. I think most of us have heard this at some time or another but we don’t really understand it. Although I am certainly a “give me freedom or give me death” kind of person, here is MY argument against free will!

You decide one day that you want a dog. You go to the pet stores, puppy breeders and even the shelters. Finally you find the perfect puppy! It will grow up to be just the right size to suit your family, with the perfect temperament and he LOVES you! When you found him, your eyes met and it was love at first sight! You are so enchanted by your new little puppy. You take him home, buy one of those underground fences and spend the entire weekend installing it properly. You teach him where the boundaries are, you buy all the right food, blankets and supplies. You are just thrilled! You have put away anything that could get him hurt or into trouble. He is now a loved and cherished part of your family. You would no sooner allow him off his leash to run rampant in the streets...you know he would get hurt...you know he could get killed. He is your beloved baby!!! So why would God put us in a garden, tell us not to eat some stupid piece of fruit and go off and expect us not to be road kill, so to speak? Who would do that?

Here is God’s loving reason: God created us in His image with brains, intellect, talent, creativity and so much more, to have fellowship with Him.

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day...” Genesis 2:8, partial.

This “walking in the garden” was clearly not an unusual sound for them. They were familiar with God. They had a friendship. It was this friendship that God had in mind. You don’t have friends that you would keep locked up in a pen or put a collar on and never allow outside of the yard without your presence. Your friends, you discuss things with, go out with, hang out with, enjoy each other’s company while respecting their personal rights and choices. This is what makes a friendship strong; their choice to be YOUR friend. You don’t ask your dog if you should marry this person or that, or if you should buy a car or an SUV? You don’t ask your dog about global warming or if you should take a two week vacation or just one or even where you should go? That my friend is fellowship; not ownership. God is not your owner. God has sent others to help us to know what it is we need to do to be friends with Him, but still it is our choice.

Satan wants ownership. He sends spirits to inhabit your body, to invade your thoughts, to persuade your actions and to keep you convinced that it is God that is out to get you, to make you sick, ruin your life, cause accidents, destroy your relationships.

It is heartbreaking for me to watch the A&E program “Intervention”. I see people who didn’t get there because they chose to have a friendship with God. They are there because they have a friendship with shopping, money, power, drugs, alcohol, pornography, sex, work, sports, poker, gambling...really it could be anything. If you say that it is limited to addictions, it is not. Satan is much more subtle than that. His purpose is to keep you from having a friendship with God, whatever that takes. No one ever got to ‘alcoholics anonymous’ by loving God. No one ever got featured on “Intervention” by loving God. No one ever got divorced with both people loving God. No one ever neglected or abused their kids by loving God. No one ever got depressed by loving God. No one ever over ate by loving God. No one ever committed suicide by loving God.

Now your next question might be, well what did God do that was so great to be friends with ME?

“For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son, that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life.” John 3:16

Eternal life with Him; being friends with Him forever. Wow, but if that is not enough God sent His son to set us free from Satan’s ownership.

About Jesus Isaiah, a great prophet of the bible says...

The people walking in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned. Isaiah 9:2

I [the Lord] will take hold of your hand. I will keep you and will make you to be a covenant for the people and a light for the Gentiles, to open eyes that are blind, to free captives from prison and to release from the dungeon those who sit in darkness. Isaiah 42:6-7

He has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim freedom for the captives and release from darkness for the prisoners... Isaiah 61:1

This darkness to which we are prisoner is none other than Satan and his helpers. God has no other enemy to which we must over come.

Some days I think it all sounds so complicated, but really it is very simple.

God created us to be His friends. We rejected that and thus we have been taken captive by Satan. To free ourselves from Satan’s grip we must first claim God’s friendship through His son Jesus, find out how to be His friend and in doing so make an aggressive, bold move by reading His word and doing what it is He asks us to do. In return He gives us peace and joy that “surpasses all understanding”. He promises never to “leave us or forsake us”. He promises to “prosper us, not harm”. He promises to send us a comforter, teacher, friend and guide.

He just simply asks us to be Holy! It is a tall order, but when you have a best friend, wouldn’t you do anything for them?

Understanding Strongholds

Posted October 29, 2007 - The Eerdman Bible Dictionary - A place of refuge or defense such as a mountain fortress, guard tower, or hideout (Judges 6:2, 26; 1 Chronicles 12:8; Isaiah 33:16; "fortresses"), a strategic point on the walls of a city, Isaiah 25:12 "fortifications", or simply a well-fortified city as a whole (Psalm 89:40; Lamentations 2:2).

"Stronghold" is a frequent metaphor for God as the one who gives judgment on behalf of the oppressed (Psalms 9:9; Jeremiah 16:19); or the one who guards the lives of those who trust him (Psalms 27:1; Nahum 1:7).

At 2 Corinthians 10:4, 5 "strongholds" is a metaphor for "arguments and every proud obstacle to the knowledge of God".

We have two types of "strongholds" to look at here. One, the Lord as our "Stronghold" over satan and the demons and the "strongholds" of satan and the demons over us that must be demolished and destroyed. The Word of God says that "Jesus was manifest to undo (destroy, loosen, and dissolve) the works of the devil". 1 John 3:8

According to 2 Corinthians 10:4 " the weapons of our warfare are not physical [weapons of flesh and blood], but they are mighty before God for the overthrow and destruction of strongholds." As we do warfare for ourselves and others these "strongholds" must be destroyed.

Psalms 9:9 says, "The Lord also will be a refuge and a high tower for the oppressed, a refuge and a "stronghold" in times of trouble (high cost, destitution, and desperation)". As long as we have a relationship with Jesus as our Savior, Deliverer, Lord and King, then we have the Lord as our "stronghold". The Children of God were instructed to obey God's laws and follow Him and worship Him. If they did not, their enemies captured them and put them in bondage and only when they turned back (repented) to the Lord with all their hearts and cried out to Him were they DELIVERED out of the hands of their enemies.

Let's look at some of the definitions of "stronghold" according to the Strong's Concordance. A fortified city; a fortification; castle; fortress; fortified place; fort; rock; a hemming in, i.e. a mound; fenced city; tower; munition; a fastness (as a covert of ambush); be isolated, i.e. by height or fortification; cut off; wall up; restrain; withhold. As we understand the meaning of "stronghold" we see that the Lord Jesus is our "Stronghold" and we also understand that satan uses the demons as "strongholds" in us.

Throughout the Scriptures we see where the Children of God were building the city and making it strong. There are also references to building and making the walls strong. Take Jericho for instance. The Lord instructed His people to march around the walls of Jericho seven times for seven days and then shout unto the Lord praise, and the walls came down. When the walls came down, the people of Jericho were then defeated. When we, through the weapons of our warfare, break down the walls of the demons, they can be defeated.

The Lord in Ephesians 6 tells us to "Put on the whole armor of God that we may be able to stand against the strategies and deceits of satan; and that we are not wrestling with flesh and blood but against powers, world rulers of darkness and against the spirit forces of wickedness in the heavenly sphere. Verse 13 of Ephesians 6 says, "Therefore put on God's complete armor, that you may be able to resist and stand your ground on the evil day, and, having done all to stand firmly in your place. Read the rest of Ephesians 6, here are some of our weapons to fight and tear down the "strongholds" of the demons for ourselves and our families, churches and country.

One of the major "strongholds" of satan in the church is that "Christians cannot have demons." This lie keeps the Children of our Lord from being set free. Satan has placed his demons of fear, unbelief, religion, pride, divination, witchcraft around the churches as a strong city, fortress, tower, rock, etc. to keep the truth of Deliverance out of the church. These "strongholds" must be destroyed and brought down in JESUS' NAME.

The Lord Jesus has not called us into His Kingdom to lay down and rest, to pray and beg for riches to heap on ourselves while others are destroyed for lack of knowledge. He called us to war, spiritual war and the battle is won by the strong arm of the Lord.

Deuteronomy 31:6 "Be strong, courageous, and firm; fear not nor be in terror before them, for it is the Lord your God Who goes with you; He will not fail you or forsake you. 7) And Moses called to Joshua and said to him in the sight of all Israel, Be strong, courageous, and firm, for you shall go with this people into the land which the Lord has sworn to their fathers to give them, and you shall cause them to possess it. 8) It is the Lord Who goes before you; He will [march] with you; He will not fail you or let you go or forsake you; [let there be no cowardice or flinching, but] fear not, neither become broken [in spirit, depressed, dismayed, and unnerved with alarm]. Also read Joshua 1:6,7,9,18; 10:25.

In II Chronicles 11, Rehoboam came to Jerusalem and assembled 180,000 chosen warriors to fight against Israel. But the Lord said not to go up and fight at that time. Rehoboam dwelt in Jerusalem and built cities for defense in Judah. Verse 11 says that he fortified the strongholds and put captains in them, with stores of food, oil, and vintage fruits. Verse 12 says that in each city he put shields and spears (weapons of warfare) and made them very strong. The verses go on to say that all came who set their hearts to seek and inquire of the Lord and to sacrifice to the Lord. Verse 17 says, "So they strengthened the kingdom of Judah and upheld Rehoboam for three years; for they walked in the ways of David and Solomon for three years." As long as they sought after the Lord and walked in His ways they were able to keep the city. This is what we are to do. If you look at the Scriptures in a spiritual manner you will see that we are strengthened by praise and worship of Jesus, reading His word, praying and fasting, and casting out demons. As long as we trust in Jesus and follow His ways we have the confidence that He is with us and in us and we are His. He will be our refuge and strength. Psalms 18:17 "He delivered me from my strong enemy and from those who hated and abhorred me, for they were too strong for me." Psalms 31:2 "Bow down Your ear to me, deliver me speedily! Be my Rock of refuge, a strong Fortress to save me! 3) Yes, You are my Rock and my Fortress; therefore for Your name's sake lead me and guide me. 4) Draw me out of the net that they have laid secretly for me, for You are my Strength and my Stronghold." Read Psalms 61:3,4; Psalm 71; Psalm 89: 10.

In Psalm 89:40, "You have broken down all his hedges and his walls: You have brought his strongholds to ruin." This is what the Lord does in DELIVERANCE.

Jesus told us in Luke 10:19, "Behold, I have given you authority and power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and [physical and mental strength and ability] over all the power that the enemy [possesses]; and nothing shall in any way harm you." He also said in Mark 16:17 that those who believe shall cast out demons. Again in Ephesians He said for us to put on the whole armor of God and for us to pray. In Corinthians 10 He said that our weapons of warfare are mighty. This means that we are to do something. The scriptures above show us that the Lord is with us and He gives us strength. And as He told the Israelites to go and destroy and take the land that He had given them, we are told to go and destroy the "strongholds" and take the peace, healing, miracle, etc. that belong to us.

Overcoming Satan’s tricks!

Posted October 30, 2007 - The beginning of freedom is actually recognizing that you need to be free. If you do not know you are in bondage then you will never fight to be free; and fight is what the bible has called us to do!

For though we live in the world, we do not wage war as the world does. The weapons we fight with are not the weapons of the world. On the contrary, they have divine power to demolish strongholds. We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ. 2 Corinthians 10:3-5

Once you realize that a demonic spirit has invaded your life, to be truly set free you must first begin with the basics.

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. James 4:7-8

First we begin by fully and completely submitting ourselves to God. We read the word daily, listen to praise and worship music, fast, removal all sin that you are aware of from your life and spend every waking hour drawing near to Him. This takes a lot of time and effort, but in the end you will find that as your relationship with God deepens, so also will your freedom become more accessible. But EXPECT resistance. The one thing that Satan and his helpers do not want you to do is draw closer to Him. Then you may find out He really does love you in a way so deep and pure that there will be no turning back. Satan will have truly lost.

Second, “resist the devil” with all the strength that you may possess; then ask for the help of the Holy Spirit. That is His job, to help you. Resisting the enemy’s tactics can be a lot more difficult than at first you may think. He will throw everything at you he can. His minions will keep you awake at night, harass you with dreams, worsen your illnesses, use others to confound your progress, and put unforeseen obstacles in your path that you could have never expected. Family members may become difficult and even sabotage your advancement. Church friends may not understand what you are going through and advise you in ways that are not Godly. At this point you may need help from others that are trained in your area of bondage. Do not join any secular self-help groups. They will only lengthen your progress, if not derail it all together. Join a Christian support group, get help from strong Christian friends or church members, talk to your pastor or start a group of your own. First and foremost find others that understand exactly what it is you are dealing with and don’t try to convince you it is either in your head or just your flesh. If you have gotten this far you already know that the demonic spirits are real and harassing you.

Help others; you will be amazed at how quickly your problems get resolved when you help others who are also in need. Most importantly lean on the Holy Spirit in all your times of need.

Resistance can also come in the form of a deliverance minister or team. They can help immensely when you are not having the desired affects. Sometimes the demonic spirits, if they have been given a stronghold over long periods of time, i.e. pre-Christian sins, or are a result of a generational curse may require direct confrontation. This should be done by someone who has experience in dealing with these spirits. Your pastor may not be the best person for the job, however he may be the best place to start. After explaining your situation, if your pastor still tells you to “crucify the flesh”, he may not be the man or woman for the job, unless of course he/she is committed to helping you get freedom through deliverance. In this case, you may be just what your pastor needs to help him overcome his fear of deliverance ministry. If this is not the case, look elsewhere, but never, ever give up. Often spiritual confrontation can be crucial to your freedom! And as always, continually petition God for your freedom and inquire always as to why your freedom has not been obtained yet.

Once you have obtained your freedom it is crucial to fill up that space with blessings so that you will keep your freedom.

When an evil spirit comes out of a man, it goes through arid places seeking rest and does not find it. Then it says, 'I will return to the house I left.' When it arrives, it finds the house unoccupied, swept clean and put in order. Then it goes and takes with it seven other spirits more wicked than itself, and they go in and live there. And the final condition of that man is worse than the first. Matthew 12:43-45

If you have been set free from a spirit of fear, memorize verses that have to do with courage. If you have been set free from a spirit of anger, memorize verses that have to do with patience, kindness, gentleness and love. If you have been set free from a spirit of infirmity, memorize verses that have to do with good health. You get the idea. So when these things return and try to gain entrance again or a foothold, you will be able to counter them with the word of God as well as having the word of God filling that space they left void. Ask the Holy Spirit to also fill it and seal it for all time. Commanding them, always in Jesus name, to never return is always a very useful tool. But like everything else, there is always another one waiting to destroy what God has done, so always be on your guard.

It is crucial to never, ever fall into that kind of sin again. You are now, officially a spiritual warrior. DAILY put on the full armor of God and stand firm against our enemy....

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil's schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms.Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God. And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints. Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, educate yourself. This battle has been waged by countless others with a great deal of success, wisdom and experience. Read everything that you can about obtaining, retaining and commencing war upon our foe! You will find that now you are free, you can help others in this process!

Now go and do what Jesus did!

The Truth About Halloween

Posted October 31, 2007 - There are many versions of halloween. This is one of them.

Do some major Deliverance on yourself for ever celebrating halloween. Burn any left over halloween stuff in your home. Don't even open your doors to pass out "tracts". If you do, then you are celebrating this unholy day.

No matter what you think of halloween, know that it is the very highest satanic holy day. As a Christian, you should not be observing it in any way, especially IN your church. The catholic church is responsible for this day to be placed in the church.

Halloween has never been a Christian holiday, and it has no place in the life of a born again Believer in JESUS CHRIST. In fact, it is an abomination to God, and we should take our stand firmly against it. As we look at its history, we find that its roots go deep into heathenism, paganism, satanism and the occult; and its modern expression is no better.

HISTORY OF HALLOWEEN

Celtic New Year

October 31 is the most important day in the satanic year. [It is known as the devil's birthday.] It marks the Celtic new year. It was the end of the growing season. It became a festival of death. On this day, the god of the Celtics was to have called up the spirits of the wicked dead who had died during the past year. At the same time, other evil spirits arose and went about the countryside harassing the people. On October 31, the Celtics expected to be harassed by ghosts, evil spirits and demons; and it was no fun and games to them. They would light bonfires to guide the spirits to their own town and to ward off evil spirits.

DRUIDS

The Celtics had priests called druids. On October 31, the druids went from house to house demanding certain foods, and all those who refused were cursed. The people were tormented by means of magic. As they went, the druids carried large turnips which they had hollowed out and on which they had carved demon faces as charms. Each one was believed to contain the demon spirit that personally led or guided that priest: his little god.

DIVINATION

Those who practiced fortune telling and divination found that this was the night that they had the most success. They called upon satan to bless their efforts. One form of divination was to put apples in a tub and bob for them. The one who first successfully came up with one without putting them in his teeth was to have good luck throughout the year. They would then peel the apples and throw the peeling over their shoulders and then quickly look around. They expected to see a vision or an apparition of the one they were to marry.

SACRIFICES

These things happened several centuries before CHRIST. Sacrifices were made to the gods, especially the god of death - Samhain (pronounced Sah win). Sacrifices all the way from vegetable to human were offered. This went on and on, and, in some parts of the world, still goes on today.

8th CENTURY

In the 8th century, the Pope, in an effort to get the people to quit the festival of Sam hain, invented All Saints Day (Nov. 1). This was an attempt to get the people to turn away from the horrible observance of Sam hain. All Saints Day was intended to honor the martyrs of the Roman persecutions. It did not work! It never works to Christianize a pagan holiday. The holy and the profane do not mix.

THE MIDDLE AGES

In the Middle Ages, there was a great revival of satanic practices and witchcraft and magic - like there is today. During this time the belief developed that witches traveled on broomsticks to the black Sabbaths to worship satan on October 31. They were guided by spirits in the form of black cats. The Druids worshiped cats believing them to be reincarnated evil people.

CHURCH INVOLVEMENT

This festival of death has survived all the efforts of the church to stamp it out. The church is joining the opposition by celebrating this festival.

All Saints Day became All Hallows Day. Hallow means holy or sacred. October 31 is the evening before All Hallows Day and came to be called in the western world all hallows evening and then all hallows een. Een is an abbreviation for evening. Finally, the word was reduced to the way we have it today, Halloween. That's where the name came from, and even if it is called all hallows evening, it has nothing to do with Christian faith, and it never did.

MODERN HALLOWEEN

Now let's look at the present day celebration of Halloween. Isn't the whole theme one of darkness, death, fear, threats, destruction and evil? There are witches, broomsticks, bats, owls, ghosts, skeletons, death, and monsters. You dress up your children as demons and witches and ghouls and monsters and werewolves and send them out into the street in the darkness to reenact the Druids' practice of demanding food from people under threat of tricks (or curses) if they don't comply.

You take, not a turnip, but a pumpkin and carve demon faces in it and decorate with it.

At Halloween there will be apple bobbing, divination, fortune telling, haunted houses, candles lit and spirits called up. There will be seances and ouija boards in the name of fun and excitement. There will be sacrifices of dogs, cats, rats, chickens, goats and even humans!

You say, "Well, we don't take it seriously." But the devil does and so does God. Particularly this is true when the Church which He purchased with His own precious blood builds houses of horror in its fellowship halls so that the little lambs who have been entrusted to its care can be terrified and opened up to invading spirits of fear and torment and confusion.

How this must Grieve the Lord!
